Overall purpose of this role of Information Officer The ICAEW Library & Information Service supports the research needs of the accountancy profession by collating and preserving information and by providing an enquiry and research service. Embedded within a small team of information professionals, this postholder responds to research and information requests from enquirers. Enquiry subjects vary greatly encompassing accounting, auditing, law, taxation, company information and genealogical research. The role additionally supports the day-to-day running of the Business Centre in London as a space for Chartered Accountants to come and work. Information Officer Responsibilities include: Be an integral member of the enquiry team delivering the Library Enquiry Service and supporting members, students and other visitors to the Business Centre whilst ensuring excellent customer service standards. Be directly involved in the answering of enquiries from a variety of media including phone, email, webchat and in person. Understand the range of, and make appropriate use of, a variety of sources - both print and digital - in the delivery of enquiries Proactively share knowledge gained from enquiries across the team and contribute to enquiry skills and information research training for colleagues. Ensure compliance with copyright law, copyright and information product licenses and ICAEW IP requirements, the Copyright Licensing Agency license and other copyright licenses as necessary Involvement in promotional activities and campaigns Specific duties will vary from time to time in line with the business needs. This role will require occasional travel to the library's off-site store in Milton Keynes to retrieve and Information Officer Candidate Profile A good standard of education with practical experience of working in a library In-depth experience of performing relevant research and enquiry work within a library environment. A wide and up-to-date knowledge of printed and electronic reference sources in the fields of business, accountancy, legal or taxation subject areas. Familiarity with using online business research databases, such as Lexis and BvD FAME. Demonstrable enthusiasm for providing high quality user services. An ability to work well within a small team and well-developed interpersonal skills. Comfort with advanced information and communications technologies, including: integrated telephone and computer systems such as CRM and other role-specific applications; web search skills; and MS Office applications.
