About the Role: Manchester Adult Education (MAES) has an exciting opportunity for a passionate industry expert to join our Vocational and Employer Responsive team as a Lecturer. The role will involve the planning, delivery, assessment, and moderation of part-time adult courses from Level 1 to 4.
Courses within the curriculum area:
* Health & Social Care/Adult Social Care
* Early Years/Education/STLS
* Health and Well-Being pathways (Mental Health, Well-being, Counselling)
* Team leading/Mentoring/Leadership
* Professional development pathways such as; Supporting Individuals with Learning Difficulties, Supporting Behaviour, Mental Health Awareness, and Substance Misuse
* Apprenticeships from January 2025
This role will involve the planning, delivery, assessment, and moderation of Teaching Assistant/Early Years courses, therefore requires subject competency.
As a Lecturer you should:
* Hold a degree and/or a Vocational related qualification in the subject area (essential)
* Hold GCSE A* - C / 9 - 4 in English or equivalent (essential)
* Hold GCSE A* - C / 9 - 4 in Math's or equivalent (essential)
* Hold Assessors qualifications (desirable) or willingness to achieve
* Hold IQA qualifications (desirable) or willingness to achieve
* Hold a teaching qualification (essential)
We welcome applications from those working in the industry, unqualified/newly or recently qualified, as well as established teachers.
You should be able to demonstrate:
* Professional and academic competence/qualifications to teach on the qualifications.
* Experience of adopting a range of teaching and learning strategies.
* Use of e-learning platforms such as Equal, Google Classroom, and others or the willingness to learn.
* Time management skills to show how you manage the priorities of planning lessons and assessing learner work.
Key Accountabilities:
* To deliver teaching and learning to at least a consistently good or outstanding standard.
* To assess accurately learner's work, both formative and summative, against appropriate awarding body criteria to ensure learners achieve their qualifications, which may include work placement visits.
* To teach online lessons (where appropriate) as well as teaching in our centres, including outreach across the city as needed, which may involve the occasional evening class.
* To have excellent digital skills to support learners to actively engage in their programme of learning and develop key workplace digital standards.
* To take some course leadership responsibilities.
* To take part in team meetings and working groups.
* To comply with the services quality assurance procedures.
* To comply with the services policies and procedures.
* To take personal and professional responsibility for keeping up-to-date in the subject area.
