This role will be based in our Cambridge office.
ABOUT THIS ROLE
An Electronics Engineer, skilled in circuit design and PCB layout, to join the New Product Development team for a market-leading consumer electronics company in the hair and beauty sector. This is an exciting opportunity to work on new range of products from early stages through to manufacture.
JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work within the NPD Electronics Team to develop electronics hardware (circuit and PCB layout).
2. Carry out electronics hardware validation and fault-finding.
3. Ensure EMC compliance on new projects.
4. Liaise with mechanical engineers to ensure good mechanical fit of the electronics.
5. Carry out product testing (functionality, reliability, and safety).
6. Take ownership and manage small to large work packages or projects providing regular updates and ensuring the deadlines are met.
7. PCB rework and prototyping.
8. Liaise with external suppliers and contract manufacturers.
9. Assist or develop test procedures for lab and manufacture testing.
10. Creation of test reports to a professional standard.
11. Act as a lead electronics engineer on a project (depending on experience).
REQUIREMENTS
1. A qualified (1st or 2.1 BSc / BEng or MSc / MEng) Electronics Engineer with at least 2 years' experience and previous experience in embedded systems for high-volume electronics.
2. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of electronics engineering (analogue, SMPS, EMC/EMI, PCB, ...). Experience in the following is desirable:
1. Analogue (op-amp, mosfets, transducer circuits) and digital electronics (board level, including interfacing protocols such as I2C, SPI) design.
2. AC electronics: AC/DC PSU design, Triac circuits.
3. Design of BLDC motor drive circuits, characterisation/tuning.
4. PCB Layout up to 6 layers, including Flexi and Flexi rigid.
5. Design for EMC as well as experience with EMC testing.
6. RF (Bluetooth) design, including antenna matching and selection.
7. Experience with safety and circuit protection.
1. Energy and enthusiasm for product development working in a highly dynamic environment.
2. PCB Design & Schematic capture using Altium or willingness to learn it.
3. Great interpersonal skills to allow effective engagement with multiple stakeholders within the business.
4. Use test equipment including thermocouples, infrared cameras, oscilloscopes, DMM, current probes and power supplies.
