Job summary We are looking for a dispenser/care navigator to work for 30 hours covering our Barugh Green branch site. We are a friendly practice that promotes positivity and tries to ensure the patients have a positive experience within our surgeries. We are looking for someone who has preferably got a qualification in dispensing or is willing to work towards this qualification. Main duties of the job - Opening and closing up the premises - Using Emis web (medical records system) to manage patient appointments with one of our healthcare professionals. - Answer incoming calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately. - To be responsible for answering general enquiries, face to face, or in person and explaining surgery procedures. - Manage the incoming post, distributing and scanning to the correct person - Take orders and requests for medication from the patient - Hand out prescriptions to patients or their representatives - Add drug stock to the system, accurately recording the details and operating efficient stock rotation - Preparation of stock take on an annual basis About us We are a 12,500 patient training practice that trains F2 doctors, GP registrars and student doctors. We currently have 5 partners, 2 salaried GP's, 5 nurses and a lead nurse as well as healthcare assistants. Some of which work across both the Barugh Green site and our Huddersfield Road site. We have an effective team of administrators who support the team with operational administration and patient services. We also have a successful team of dispensary staff who run a popular dispensary service to our practice population, this includes a delivery service to patients who would usually struggle to collect their regular medications. Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary registration and ensure procedures are completed passing all completed registration forms to admin to be entered on the system as per procedures. Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery. Action/update assigned tasks daily or within the appropriate time scales Enter patient information on to the computer as required Book ambulance transport when required. Request 999 ambulances for emergencies. Dealing with sample forms and enquiries regarding results in investigations Take orders and requests for medication from the patient by all means available to the patient. Meeting and greeting patients politely, handing out prescriptions to patients or their representative, checking the patients name and address. Collect NHS prescription charges due and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient. Hand out private prescriptions, calculating the cost to the patient, ensure records of private prescription and charges are kept appropriately, issue receipt to the patient and show VAT charges. To ensure that all monies received or handled on behalf of the practice are appropriately stored and banked and a record kept of all financial transactions. If the patient is in dispute regarding NHS prescription fees, issue the patient with a receipt to reclaim fees completing all details correctly and endorsing with our practice stamp and advising the patient how to get the refund. Ensure all prescriptions are completed correctly by patients upon collection, collate and forward the forms to the administrator for processing prior to sending off to the PPA. Checking goods received, enter stock onto the system, returning incorrect, damaged goods to wholesaler. To ensure that drugs are stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with the accompanying instructions and stock shelves, fridge etc. using stock rotation method (old to the top and new to the bottom) With the dispensary team ensure that the shelves and all work surfaces are regularly cleaned to maintain a high level of hygiene within the dispensary and that all dispensary equipment is kept clean and kept in good working order. With the dispensary team ensure the dispensary area remains tidy and in an organised manner at all times. To ensure that refrigerated items are stored at the correct temperatures and to maintain the temperature control record by completing the fridge temperatures book. If there is an issue with the temperature of one of the fridges, this needs to be reported to the Lead Nurse and the Practice Manager. Preparing Nomad packs, when required with a dispenser. Ensuring sufficient stock, labels, nomad boxes, bags, drug boxes and bottles, spoons and syringes and records updated when necessary. Monthly out of date stock report, removing stock from the shelf and updating the computer records and re-ordering when necessary.
