Salary range: £33,000 to £37,000 pa plus £2,000 Joining Bonus
Location: Leatherhead, Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow or Burton
Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home

Role Overview
Our renewable energy division is a community of engineers who are focused on understanding and contributing to the growth of the offshore wind industry worldwide. We support clients from detailed design through to project execution. We enable our clients to identify, develop, and operate offshore wind projects. Through this range of engineering and project management services we are ensuring the sector meets the ever-increasing needs of society for green, cheap, and reliable energy.
One of our core services is in the provision of early-stage technology assessment and energy yield analysis for renewables projects. We help our clients to assess and quantify the potential energy capture (at an early stage) and provide impactful advice on the potential technology make up of new renewables developments across different geographic locations.
The primary focus of the role will be to support developers in resource and yield assessment and layout optimisation to support site selection, bids for leasing and for contracts for difference. You will also support wind farm operators in conducting operational assessments of existing assets to reconcile difference between actual and forecast performance, update predictions and identify performance issues. This role provides an opportunity to combine project management and engineering skills. The candidate will be flexible in both supporting and managing services to clients, working with colleagues from across the company to deliver success.
Furthermore, as a member of our team you will have the opportunity to understand our wider service offering and support some of our other key clients in conducting energy yield analysis, technical assessments and assessing project level risks for an offshore wind farm across various project stages.
Working in a consultancy provides you the opportunity to combine technical, commercial, project and people skills. Good interpersonal skills are important as is the ability to make structured decisions, solve problems, and show initiative and ownership internally and externally. Reporting to your Group Leader you will be accountable for your own work but will be provided with support from more experienced engineers when required for project delivery and to guide service development and strategy.
Skills and Attributes
You're completing or have recently completed your Mathematics, Physics or Engineering doctorate, so please get in contact if you have experience and an interest in some of the following:
* Have an interest in working at the forefront of the offshore wind industry delivering technology and energy yield assessments.
* Experience in meteorology or metocean studies and the subsequent impact on wind farm performance.
* Experience in assessing and defining key criteria for a wind farms performance.
* Experience in developing aerodynamic methods for wind farm assessment using Computation Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Mesoscale models or rapid engineering models (such as FLORIS, pywake).
* Experience in wind turbine data processing and algorithm development to understand correlation between different datasets.
* Experience in defining a set of criteria to accurately and fairly compare different types of technologies.
* Familiar with programming languages and packages such as Python, C#, and MATLAB.
* An aptitude for communicating methods and results to specialists and non-specialists through writing high quality reports and presenting technical papers at conferences.
* Be a strong team player but with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
