About the role
The Highway Condition Works Inspector is responsible for carrying out inspections of the highway network and commissioning necessary remedial works. This role involves identifying potential hazards and defects that could impact public safety, assessing whether reactive works should be integrated into planned maintenance programmes, and collaborating with engineering staff to develop these plans.

About you
The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge and expertise in asset management strategies for both reactive and planned highway maintenance. They will have a solid understanding of highway maintenance inspections using a risk-based approach, as well as health and safety regulations relevant to the field. Additionally, a pass grade on the City and Guilds Highway Safety Inspection course is desirable.
About the team
You will work alongside a team of four other inspectors, a senior highway engineer, and report to a team leader for highways inspection and reactive maintenance. In this collaborative role, you will contribute to ensuring the safety and upkeep of the highway network, conducting inspections, identifying defects, and coordinating remedial works. You will also engage with colleagues across engineering and maintenance teams to support efficient service delivery and help shape strategic improvements in highway management
