The Gastroenterology Department are seeking an enthusiastic Medical Secretary to provide comprehensive, accurate and confidential support to the service at Grantham Hospital. This post is part-time at 18.75hrs per week.
We are looking for candidates who flourish in an office environment and thrive from problem solving and supporting the Clinicians. The role involves dealing with urgent and routine correspondence and tasks in accordance with agreed practice and CQUIN standards, including typing of clinic letters, medical reports, and general correspondence. You will also handle enquiries by letter, email, and telephone from patients, GPs, other hospitals, police, solicitors (via medical records/legal department), and other consultants. Additionally, you will support the day-to-day organisation of the Consultant by maintaining a diary, arranging meetings, appointments, annual leave, study leave, etc. A genuine interest in providing excellent patient care is necessary. Experience in an office environment would be advantageous, and we welcome candidates who are looking to start within the NHS.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic team player with excellent customer care and interpersonal skills. A minimum of 2 GCSEs or equivalent of Grade C and above is required, including English & Maths. Experience in secretarial duties and the ability to use your own initiative and prioritise work to achieve deadlines are essential. Knowledge of medical terminology would be advantageous, but not essential, as on-the-job training is provided. A flexible approach to work is required, as well as the ability to collaborate with others in a team-based environment under demanding work pressures. Hours can be flexible and will be discussed in more detail with the successful candidate.

Qualifications
* Typing, Audio and Word/Text Processing Skills to RSA III or equivalent knowledge acquired through further experience
* GCSE English Language Grade C or equivalent
* Medical secretary qualifications
* 4 GCSE Grade C or equivalent
* NVQ III or equivalent
* AMSPAR - Medical Terminology Certificate
* Stage 1 - Management Development or equivalent
* D32/33 Assessor Award or equivalent
Previous Experience
* Recent Medical Secretarial experience
* Knowledge of medical terminology

£24,071 to £25,674 per annum, £12,035 - £12,837 pro rata.
