A fantastic opportunity to join an exciting and rewarding team within NHS Highlands The Care Response Teams (CRT) was developed 4 years ago in response to the Covid 19 outbreak. However, it has now become an established service within NHS Highland where team members deliver urgent and short term care and support to different services across the whole of the North Highlands. As a Social Care Assistant you will be responsible for providing personal care and support to service users in Residential care settings such as Care Homes and Care at Home Services, all over the North Highlands. This will provide you with the chance to see a large variety of not only different services and environments, but also different parts of the North Highlands from the northernmost shores in Caithness and Sutherland to the bottom glens of Fort William and Mallaig. Due to the large geographical area that the CRT covers, overnight stays might be required and use of your own car with full driving license is essential. You will be required to work to a 4-on 4-off rolling rota which includes not only weekends but also a variety of different 11.5 hours shift patterns which includes Nightshifts. Flexibility and a “Can do” attitude is must, alongside a positive attitude. Your role will be to provide a high quality care, assistance and support in order to maintain and promote the independence for people in their own homes or care facilities. The role is closely supported by a team of fellow SCA, Social Care Workers, Team leads and a Team Manager. The team also works closely alongside other NHS professionals and Social Work services. In order to be able to carry out the duties of this post effectively and safely, candidates will be able to provide evidence of experience in dealing with vulnerable adults, especially older people, preferably in a caring capacity. Applicant must have good communication skills – both verbally and written. In order to comply with the registration with the Scottish Social Services Council, candidates must be willing to complete a SVQ Level 2, within an agreed timeframe. Further job specific induction and training will be provided upon success at interview. A driving licence is essential for this post and applicants should have access to their own vehicle for work purposes. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Highland is unable to provide candidates with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).
