The Ashbrook Project is a Victorian villa in North Edinburgh, situated directly adjacent to the Salvation Army’s Eagle Lodge Home for Older People. Some of our café customers are residents of the Lodge and their families. The project comprises a dementia-friendly café, conference, and training rooms. The Café is marketed to the wider community and to organizations in the city who support people and families experiencing dementia.
Ashbrook Café is a light and airy space offering a friendly and accessible environment, serving light lunches and home baking. Everyone is welcome, especially those whose lives are touched by dementia. We want to create an environment where people of every generation can come together, learn from each other’s life experiences, and enjoy each other’s company.
As Café Assistant, you will greet and serve customers through the till within the Café, take food and drinks orders, and prepare light snacks. You will work with the kitchen team to ensure the best quality produce is delivered to the customer in a timely manner and that the Café is cleaned and well maintained for all visitors to Ashbrook.
The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:
1. Experience in a customer-facing role.
2. Basic food hygiene certificate.
3. Experience working in a fast-paced food service environment.
4. Appreciation of and commitment to working within The Salvation Army’s Christian ethos and key values.
