Preston Community Hub is a local community centre offering a wide range of activities and services for people of all ages. We provide a variety of workshops, programmes, events, and resources to assist in creating a lively, inclusive community.
Our mission is simple: to foster a strong sense of belonging and empower individuals to reach their full potential. We believe that by building strong community ties, we can create a nurturing environment that supports personal and collective growth.
Role Description
Volunteer stock collection drivers will pick up and deliver essential stock from our valued partners and donor organisations. Access to your own vehicle is ideal, but we also have an organisation vehicle (auto) available for use. Your support will play a crucial role in our mission to continue delivering crucial community services and the organisations continuous growth.
Shifts
This is a flexible volunteering role, allowing you to give your time whenever it suits you — weekdays or weekends, based on your availability.
* Valid Driver's License: A current and valid driver's license is a fundamental requirement for the role.
* Reliability: Volunteers should be reliable and committed to fulfilling their scheduled pick-up and delivery responsibilities.
* Team Player: Willingness to collaborate with other volunteers or staff members as needed for efficient stock handling.
* Good Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication is essential, both with the organisation and potentially with partner/donor organisations during pick-ups.
* Time Management: The ability to manage time effectively, ensuring timely and efficient stock pick-ups and deliveries.
* Adherence to Traffic Rules: Strict adherence to traffic laws and safe driving practices is crucial for the safety of the volunteer and others on the road.
* Access to Own Vehicle: While the organisation provides a car, having access to the volunteer's own vehicle can be a desirable asset for flexibility in scheduling and reaching locations that may not be easily accessible with the organisation's vehicle.
* Familiarity with Local Area: Knowledge of the local area can be advantageous in navigating routes efficiently and reaching destinations promptly.
* Physical Fitness: Some tasks may involve loading and unloading stock, so a reasonable level of physical fitness could be beneficial.
* Flexibility: Being flexible with scheduling and potentially able to assist with occasional urgent or unplanned stock pick-ups.
* Previous Driving Experience: Previous experience in driving roles, especially involving transportation of goods or stock, can be an asset.
