We are excited to offer the opportunity of Qualifying Social Work (QSW) posts within Angus Health & Social Care Partnership, and Children Families & Justice. Qualifying Social Worker posts are sessional posts for students who have gained entry to their final year of study of a social work degree at university. Successful candidates will be able to begin employment while undertaking their final year of study or whilst waiting for their degree results. Qualifying social workers can undertake pieces of work in operational teams overseen by a qualified social worker. They will be provided advice and guidance as appropriate for each role. This is a great opportunity for students to gain experience in a statutory setting and develop the skills and values needed prior to becoming a registered Social Worker. Hours of work are flexible around your university and placement commitments. Please be aware these are time limited posts and QSW's can only undertake pieces of work during their final year of study and until they qualify as a social worker. Angus Council also host a separate scheme for Newly Qualified Social Workers which candidates can apply for after their final year of study when they are ready to gain employment as a qualified social worker. You may be asked to provide emergency support or be involved in planned pieces of work over a time period in line with the needs of the service and your availability. Some pieces of work may involve direct work with individuals or children, while some may be more office-based activities. Some examples of work that you may be offered are: • Direct work with Children & Families • Time - outs (emergency support to young people in a setting such as hotel or cabin). You would not be lone working and would be part of a team supporting the time out. • Formal Assessments (Kinship Care Assessments, Pre-Birth Risk Assessments, Stepparent adoptions) • SDS Assessments • Carers Assessments • Discussing & Securing packages of care for individuals • Reviews • Supporting & Assessing family time • Chronologies & Genograms • Subject Access Requests • 1:1 support to children, young people or family members (Intensive support) • Any other appropriate roles Please note interviews will be held - to be confirmed.
