Job summary
The Tutbury Practice is looking for a Receptionist/Administrator to work in our friendly village GP surgery. Hours of work would be Monday to Friday to hours per week. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, confident, enthusiastic, can answer telephones in a professional and courteous manner, with excellent communication and administration skills.
Main duties of the job
You will offer general assistance to the practice team and project apositive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, whether in personor via the telephone.
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing theappropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient andeffective way.
Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist inthe smooth running of the practice.
Facilitate effective communication between patients, membersof the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcareagencies.
Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practiceguidelines
Computer data entry/data allocation and collation;processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures andscanning of clinical documents.
When dealing with patients, you must be compassionate and discrete.
About us
We are a rural practice based in Tutbury, Burton on Trent, with a practice population of over 8,527 patients. Our clinical team consists of 2 GP partners, 3 salaried GPs, a clinical pharmacist and a well established nursing team, complemented by a friendly and established admin and reception team.

JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of the role is to:

The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by membersof the practice team may include any or all of the items in the followinglist. Duties may be varied from time totime under the direction of the Reception Co-ordinator and AdministrationCo-ordinator, dependent on current and evolving practice workload and staffinglevels:
Opening up/locking-up of practice premises and maintainingsecurity in accordance with Practice protocols
Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments,visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to theappropriate person. Taking messages andpassing on information.
Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail
Filing and retrieving paperwork
Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practiceguidelines
Computer data entry/data allocation and collation;processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures andscanning of clinical documents.
