About the role Location: Community based on the Isle of Man, working across the island community with some elements of home working. Contract: Fixed term contract for 1 year, with possibility of extension. The Dementia Support Service provides a highly responsive and individualised information, signposting and referral service to people affected by dementia and their carers. We run a number of Activity groups, including our successful Singing for the Brain, and Love to Move Sessions. The role will require you to: Facilitate and deliver our range of groups across the area. Support and role manage a group of trained volunteers that help us to deliver the groups. Contribute in the delivery of sessions of our Carers Information & Support Programme. Build relationships with a range of local contacts, networking with health and care professionals, promoting the Dementia Support Service. Deliver informal dementia information sessions to Professionals and partners across the island. Develop networks and pathways with partner organisations who work in the field of dementia, ensuring seamless and consistent support and empowering carers to make informed choices. Provide support face-to-face, by telephone and online. About you We are looking for a highly motivated individual, with an understanding of dementia and the needs of people affected by dementia. You will; Be empathetic and non-judgmental in your approach with a commitment to equal opportunities. Have excellent communication skills to meet the diverse needs of our community. Have a sound knowledge of IT systems to record data, write reports and communicate by email. Have experience of running and planning groups and working with volunteers. Understand client confidentiality and how this is applied when representing client needs. Possess previous experience supporting people, preferably those living with Dementia. Have the ability and means able to travel independently around the island.
