Our client is seeking to employ an experienced Site Manager for their business based in Walsall, West Midlands. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing projects for waste, remediation, and related environments, as well as working with schemes of various values.
Job Role:
The purpose of this role is to take accountability as a Site Manager for the running and successful handover of the projects to the client in a timely and professional manner, manage the smooth running of the site, and ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
Responsible for:
1. Control plant, labour, and materials usage to avoid cost overruns and wastage.
2. Manage key time/cost/quality/safety risks to successful delivery of the project.
3. Assist the Agent/Project Manager to maintain as-built records to enable programme updates.
4. Assist the Agent/Project Manager to liaise with statutory utility companies regarding diversion and location of existing mains and/or installation of new mains.
5. Understand the method statements and risk assessments produced and issued for the works.
6. Report any accidents/near misses/service strikes to the H&S department.
7. Ensure that the workforce understands and adheres to the method statements and risk assessments issued.
8. Assist the Agent/Project Manager to carry out site inductions and toolbox talks for all operatives, highlighting company and site rules and site-specific safety hazards, including checking operative's safety certificates.
9. Liaise with client's representatives/consultants on site in a professional manner.
10. Manage plant and materials deliveries to ensure the smooth running of the works.
11. Be responsible for securing offices, containers, and site boundary at the end of every shift.
12. Monitor subcontractor's quality/programme/safety performance on a regular basis and advise the Agent/Project Manager of any non-compliance.
13. Manage workmanship/quality of work by direct labour and subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications.
14. Actively engage in the snagging/handover process to ensure no defects at completion.
15. Ensure that the plant on site is fully utilised and in good working order.
16. Represent the business core values at all times.
Qualifications & Experience
1. CSCS competency card.
2. SMSTS.
3. First Aid.
4. WAMITAB - other equivalent waste qualification.
5. Degree in a relevant subject, but experience is essential.
6. At least 5 years' experience working within the waste industry.
7. Good level of IT use and Budget Management.
