Role Overview:
As a Post-16 SEND support assistant you will work with young adults with various SEND needs and play a crucial role in providing essential support to students aged 16 and above with their learning and development. Your responsibilities will include assisting the teaching staff in delivering tailored lessons, supporting individualized learning plans, and creating an inclusive and engaging classroom environment. You will work closely with students to enhance their educational experiences, foster their personal development, and help them reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with teaching staff to support students with SEND in classroom activities.
2. Provide one-on-one or small group assistance to students who require additional support.
3. Assist in the preparation of learning materials and resources.
4. Support students during vocational and practical sessions.
5. Help students develop their social and communication skills.
6. Contribute to the creation and implementation of IEP plans.
7. Maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
Requirements:
1. Previous experience working with individuals with SEND.
2. Strong empathy, patience, and understanding of the diverse needs of students.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
