Shift Engineer
Location: Oxford
Salary: £22.15 per hour (Monday-Friday), £25.47 per hour (weekends)
Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week on a rotating shift basis (05:00-15:30 and 13:30-00:00)
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose, inspect, maintain, and repair company vehicles.
Work independently using specialist skills to provide timely solutions.
Use diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle faults.
Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with transport regulations.
Conduct road tests (if license permits).
Maintain and safely handle all tools, materials, and specialist equipment.
Stay updated with technical developments through training and continuous professional development.
Follow all Health & Safety policies and risk assessments.
Act as a professional ambassador for Oxford Bus Company and public transport.What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
City & Guilds Level 3 / NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Knowledge of mechanical engineering and vehicle maintenance procedures (PCV or HGV).
Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently.
Full manual driving license and own hand tools.
Desirable:
IOSH qualification or similar Health & Safety training.
Understanding of DVSA & Department of Transport standards.
Experience with automotive electrics and fault diagnostics.
