Job Title: Quality Engineer
Location: Redditch
Salary: £40,000+
A well-established manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer / Quality Manager to take full ownership of all Quality Processes and Systems across the site. This is a senior, autonomous role, reporting directly to the Directors, where you will drive quality improvements, ensure compliance, and play a key role in maintaining industry standards.
The company holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949 accreditations, and while experience with IATF 16949 is beneficial, it is not essential.
The Role:
As the sole Quality expert on-site, you will be responsible for the upkeep and continuous improvement of quality processes while providing leadership on health, safety, and environmental compliance. Your key duties will include:
Quality & Compliance Management:
Oversee and maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949 standards, ensuring adherence to all regulatory and customer requirements.
Manage internal and external audits, liaising with third-party auditors and defining corrective action plans.
Develop, implement, and maintain quality policies, procedures, and manuals to ensure best practices.
Ensure compliance with health & safety and environmental legal requirements, identifying and managing key environmental aspects.
Maintain Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Process and Product Control Plans, PPAP documentation, APQP, and 8D problem-solving processes.
Continuous Improvement & Leadership:
Identify opportunities for process improvement and drive quality initiatives across the business.
Train and support production staff in quality procedures and best practices.
Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and report findings to the Directors on a monthly basis.
Ensure calibration recall systems are in place and oversee the International Material Data System (IMDS).
The Person:
To be successful in this role, you should have:
Proven experience as a Quality Engineer or Quality Manager in a manufacturing environment.
Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 (IATF 16949 is a bonus).
Ability to take full ownership of quality, health & safety, and compliance within an organization.
Experience conducting audits and liaising with third-party assessors.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to drive change and improve processes.
