Buyer (Lingerie) Maternity Cover
Salary £35k to £60k DOE Location Peterborough Head Office Contracted Hours 37.5 hours a week - Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm - Office Based

The Vacancy
What is the role
To implement the sourcing and buying strategy for Lingerie product, owning and supporting the delivery of agreed target KPI’s. Working in partnership with merchandiser and garment tech team to plan and balance the range.
Maternity Cover / the role will be based at our Peterborough head office.
What you will do
1. Manage the buying team ensuring targets are identified and met
2. Ensure that supply base has the capability to meet requirements
3. Negotiate with suppliers for best price whilst maintaining product integrity and standards in production
4. Understand and contribute towards brand and product handwriting
5. Ensure that agreed levels of good, better and best product are bought
6. Review competitor activity and ensure customer / competitor benchmarking completed
7. Understand profit and intake margin strategy focusing on achieved margin targets
8. Continually drive newness and initiative, maximising sales and minimising risk
9. Challenge and manage underperformance where necessary
10. Work with garment tech to take joint responsibility for fit and quality
11. Regularly visit stores and work closely with retail colleagues
12. Work with supply base/ wider buying team to source and develop new product opportunities
13. Secure dates for product sign-off at appropriate points in the season
14. Oversee the critical path management for the department
15. Assist in driving marketing and trading activity
16. Ensure Competency Reviews are completed, and Personal Development plans are developed and kept live with the buying team
17. Work with the HR team to ensure that the teams are developed to the required skill levels
18. Cascade strategic objectives to the wider teams
19. Work alongside the buying teams to ensure that agreed looks and colour palettes are developed and delivered with consistency
20. Develop and share best practice across the buying floor
21. Ensure that communication of issues and developments to the Director is timely, consistent and in the appropriate format
22. Undertaking project work when required
23. Deliver a profitable range in a timely manner
24. Develop a range which works visually alongside other products to agreed guidelines
25. Build and motivate a professional and respected team
26. Work within budget to increase sales whilst reducing markdown

39. A relevant qualification at degree or equivalent level.
40. Experience of working within a Buying team environment, within a multiple brand retailer preferable
41. Strong commercial awareness and minimum of 3 years at Buyer Level
42. Tangible knowledge of putting together a profitable range
43. Effective communicator, presenter and team player.
44. Ability to adopt a flexible approach when required and to think swiftly.
45. Excellent time management and organisation skills.
46. Confident working in a fast-paced environment and able to prioritise projects.
