The Opportunity
At Leonardo, we have a fantastic new opportunity for a Support Engineer to join our team within the Customer Support and Service Solutions (CS3) line of business. The CS3 line of business operates across the UK, providing innovative and invaluable support solutions to our customers. We help to ensure the availability of front-line capability wherever and whenever required.
This role is based at our Edinburgh site and you will join a highly skilled team within the CS3 line of business and play a key role in back office operational technical support, for multiple Fast Jet Radar products; TNR, Captor-M and Captor-E.
What you will do as Support Engineer:
1. Deliver operational Radar support to internal and external customers.
2. Provide performance reports to Project Management regularly.
3. Manage spares and repairs.
4. Liaise with various departments including logistics, export control and Quality Assurance.
5. Work with the design teams to understand forecast product reliability and provide analysis against in service support data.
6. Facilitate Local Equipment Repair Committee (LERC) meetings for repairs.
7. Analyse operational reliability data of equipment.
8. Analyse Failure Data, estimating cost of failure and determining root cause.
9. Work closely with senior systems, QA and test engineers to identify and resolve support related problems on complex systems.
10. Contribute to continuous process/procedural improvements to help drive out the cost and reputational consequence of failure.
11. Understand the customer's operational needs to help guide the development of support solution capable of meeting the needs of future operational environments.
We would like to hear from you if you have a combination of the following:
1. A degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline, or equivalent.
2. Have worked in the defence industry or have other relevant experience applying the principles of Supportability engineering and standards.
3. Experience in front line technical support.
4. Our team use Excel and Word and a considerable level of expertise with these would be highly desirable.
5. Experience of gathering, analysing and drawing insights from data.
6. Ability to communicate concepts and strategies in a non-technical way.
7. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders from a wide range of organisations, disciplines, cultures and seniority.
8. Self-motivated with an aptitude for problem solving and driving challenging issues to conclusion.
9. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with an ability to influence and adapt according to changing demands.
Intrinsic factors:
1. This role is based at our Edinburgh site, with the ability to use Custom (Hybrid) working to balance on and off-site working.
2. As CS3 is a geographically dispersed line of business, the role is likely to include monthly travel within the UK, and potentially abroad, to support team and customer meetings. In some cases you will also be expected to stay overnight as part of this travel.
