About HyGen
HyGen Energy is setting the standard for clean hydrogen production, enabling end users to embrace the conversion to hydrogen-powered transportation. With the aim of establishing production-ready sites across the UK, and a wholesale distribution system in place via our affiliates.
HyGen, supported by key partners, is developing and delivering renewable energy source coupled electrolysis plants across the UK, with the project pipeline currently at 300MW. Our activities span origination, development, feasibility, concept and front-end engineering design, project delivery and operation and maintenance of hydrogen production plants.

About the Role
The role will be site based at one of the largest green H2 refueling stations in Europe based in Tyseley, Birmingham. You will be operating and maintaining a site in our growing network of hydrogen refueling stations conducting all operational and maintenance requirements including but not limited to:
* Create and maintain the required maintenance documentation (WOC, RAMS) to allow safe maintenance, calibration, installation, fault diagnosis, and repair of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.
* Inspect, repair and maintain all types of LV electrical plant, apparatus and control equipment.
* Carryout preventive maintenance, repairs and calibration onsite to plant/apparatus as appropriate.
* Maintain files, logs and drawings for all control, instrumentation and electrical equipment using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
* Understand piping and instrument Diagrams (P&ID’s), signal loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel drawings, etc.
* Propose and develop modifications and improvements to plant/apparatus as appropriate.
* Liaise with and oversee suppliers and contractors supplying goods or services to ensure compliance with company procedures.
* Assist the maintenance and operations team to achieve collective objectives and goals.
* Ensure good housekeeping at all times, maintain the workshop and other work areas in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
* Complete other tasks/duties within the scope and spirit of the job as instructed by management.
* Perform all duties in manner consistent with environmental, health and safety and company policies.
What are we looking for?
* Minimum NVQ L3 qualification or relevant apprenticeship.
* 3+ years’ experience working as a technician within the industrial gases sector.
* Familiarity with conducting planned preventative maintenance in alignment with OEM guidance.
* Working knowledge of technical documents & drawings including P&IDs, electrical diagrams & control logic flow diagrams.
* Experience in the generation of method statements & risk assessments as well as familiarity with permit to work schemes.
* Good organizational & reporting skills.
* A keen eye and attention to detail.
* Flexible working practice. Able to work in an environment that requires working unsociable hours at short notice to ensure overall operations & maintenance cover 365 days per year.
* A collaborator, good with people.
* Ability to communicate professionally with all stakeholders internally & externally.
* Valid UK Driving license.
* Able to adapt to challenging situations with a flexible hands-on approach and strong positive work ethic.
* Some manual handling necessary, working in confined spaces and working at height.
* Carryout preventive maintenance, repairs and calibration of onsite instrumentation.
* Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
* Ability to work a three shift rota.
Advantageous
* Knowledge of the Hydrogen Industry.
* Knowledge of compressed gases, pressure systems & Pressure Equipment Directives.
* Knowledge of ATEX Directives & the Explosive atmospheres.
* Formal Health and Safety qualification i.e. IOSH managing safety.
* Experience of High Voltage Apparatus.
* Proficiency in MS Office suite.
* Good understanding of and ability to interface with PLC & SCADA (DCS) architecture to basic programming level.
