Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12 month secondment/fixed term for an Operational Flow Assistant Clerk at Prince Charles Hospital. The post holder will assist the Operational Bed Managers and Head of Patient Flow to ensure the safe and effective utilisation of hospital capacity and patient flow.
Main Duties of the Job
The role will include maintaining patient flow through both Scheduled and Unscheduled care pathways, and supporting internal and external transfers of care. This will include, but is not limited to, booking of Non-Emergency Patient Transport.
The post holder will be required to:
* Liaise with ward/unit staff and wider members of the Multi Disciplinary Team to ensure effective and efficient patient flow.
* Gather required data to enable the production of reports and to support the Operational Bed Manager decision making.
* Assist the Operational Bed Manager by developing and implementing patient flow update plans, and keep the Operational Bed Manager up to date with any issues that arise.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months to meet the needs of the service. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
The post holder will:
* Collect, collate and report a wide range of capacity and patient flow information to the Operational Bed Manager.
* Liaise with ward/unit staff to establish the bed position and planned bed availability.
* Support with data collection related to patient journey by utilising E-Whiteboards, WPAS and Optimise.
* Produce regular reports and updates for the Operational Bed Manager on bed availability.
* Support ward/unit staff to maximise timely patient discharge.
* Work proactively in finding solutions to operational issues as and when they arise.
* Communicate effectively with the wider Multi Disciplinary Team.
* Respond timely and prioritise requests for ambulance transport for transfer/discharge.
* Collate data provided by site teams in support of the site wide weekend plan.

Experience
* Experience of using hospital IT systems.
Qualifications and/or Knowledge
* Knowledge of administrative and IT systems, procedures and processes acquired through formal training and courses to diploma level or equivalent.
* Knowledge of WPAS system.
* Ability to analyse reports.
* Knowledge of e-Whiteboard System.
