Job summary This is a locum post (10 PA) in General Paediatrics, to cover a secondment gap. Alder Hey Children's NHS Trust is a major teaching hospital. It serves not only the children of Liverpool, but is the tertiary referral centre for children from Merseyside, Cheshire, parts of Lancashire, Cumbria, Shropshire and North Wales for many sub-specialties of paediatrics. The General Paediatric team provide inpatient and outpatient care to a diverse range of patients from across the Liverpool region. This role combines a mixture of activities including providing a Consultant Led Service on our Paediatric Assessment Unit, supporting the on call rota and inpatients service and delivering outpatient clinics. As such it is an exciting opportunity for anyone who welcomes variety within their day to day role. Main duties of the job Responsible for the examination, investigation, diagnosis and treatment of acutely unwell general medical patients To work as part of a multidisciplinary Team. Contribute to both general paediatric outpatient clinics and Rapid Access clinics. Responsible for all inpatients admitted under medical team referred by the GP or emergency department until discharged. Advice and clinical consultation to other inpatient services as appropriate e.g. general surgery. As part of consultant of the week to support the GP Hotline to advise local primary care providers in paediatric case management. Liaison with senior colleagues to ensure the provision of effective paediatric clinical services.
