Interv_l are searching for multiple Electrical Design Engineers responsible for creating, developing, and implementing electrical designs for new connections to the electricity network. This includes designing low and high-voltage electrical systems (typically up to 33kV) for industrial, commercial, and residential projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and client requirements. The role involves close collaboration with project teams, clients, and Distribution Network Operators (DNOs).
Key Responsibilities
* Electrical Design:
* Develop detailed designs for LV and HV networks, including cable routes, substation layouts, and protection systems.
* Produce single-line diagrams, general arrangements, and technical specifications.
* Perform load flow, fault level, and protection coordination studies using industry-standard software.
* Regulatory Compliance:
* Ensure designs comply with the latest engineering standards, DNO specifications, and statutory regulations.
* Prepare and submit designs for approval by DNOs and other relevant bodies.
* Project Management:
* Liaise with project teams, clients, and stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure design deliverables align with project timelines.
* Support the tendering process by providing technical input and cost estimates for designs.
* Collaboration & Communication:
* Work closely with installation teams to address design-related queries during project execution.
* Provide technical support and resolve issues arising from design implementation.
* Continuous Improvement:
* Stay updated with the latest industry developments, technology, and best practices.
* Contribute to the development and refinement of internal design standards and processes.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential:
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Strong understanding of HV/LV electrical distribution systems and design principles.
* Proficiency in design tools and software such as AutoCAD, Amtech, or ETAP.
* Knowledge of relevant standards, including G81, BS7671, and ENA Technical Specifications.
* Experience working with or for DNOs and ICPs.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable:
* Membership in a professional engineering body (e.g., IET).
* Experience with earthing design and analysis.
* Familiarity with GIS systems.
* Understanding of grid connection application processes.
