An opening has arisin for a Band Three Plaster Room Assistant to join our Trauma & Orthopaedic Plaster and Splinting Service. This position will provide an opportunity to work closely with our experienced and friendly team of Technicians.
The role is both clinical, working directly with patients removing plasters and applying splints and administrative where you will be responsible for keeping the admin work up to date using our in-house IT systems. Support and trainig will be given as required to fulfill this role of supporting the department both clinically and administratively. The position requires good team working skills, ability to prioritise workload, excellent telephone manner as well as the ability to establish rapport with senior members of the department.
Under the direction of the Senior/Lead Orthopaedic Practitioners, the post holder will participate as an integral member of the departmental team. This role will have direct patient contact supporting the technicians in the delivery of a high standard of expertise in casting and plastering techniques.
Assistance will be expected in cast applications by holding correct position of an injured limb. Removal of backslabs/soft cast plasters and supply of simple off the shelf splints as well as providing patients with relevant information and documentation to support treatment.

These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and are providing an extra 88,000 scans a year.
