Key Requirements of the Senior Accountant
1. Fully or part-qualified (ACCA/ACA) or QBE.
2. A minimum of 5 years' experience in practice.
3. Familiarity with auditing techniques is advantageous but not required.
4. Up to date with continuing professional development (CPD) and accounting training.
5. Excellent communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
6. Familiarity with CCH accountancy software is preferred, though training will be provided if necessary. Experience with Sage software is also desirable.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant
1. Preparing annual accounts for a diverse client base, including complex limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships, using accounting software in line with established accounting principles.
2. Drafting corporation tax computations and returns for managerial review.
3. Handling deferred tax calculations and tax reconciliations.
4. Preparing VAT returns and demonstrating knowledge of Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.
5. Creating periodic management accounts for internal reporting purposes.
6. Ensuring timely submission of year-end company accounts and corporation tax returns in compliance with Companies House and HMRC deadlines.
7. Addressing client inquiries via phone, email, and in person as needed.
8. Managing a personal portfolio of clients, with general oversight from the line manager or Partner.
