About The Shores SARC: Located in Bournemouth, The Shores operates 24/7, 365 days a year, with acommitted team of on-call Crisis Workers and Sexual Offence Examiners. Ourmission is to deliver trauma-informed, high-quality care to those who need itmost.
Hours: 0700 to 1900hrs or 1900 to 0700hrs
Rate: £120 per shift with an additional £150 per call out
Main duties of the job
As a Sexual Offence Nurse, you will play a crucial role in the multidisciplinary team, providing forensic medical examinations and clinical care. Your duties will include:
1. Conducting forensic examinations of victims of rape and sexual assault, adhering to PHL Health, FFLM, NMC, and FSR guidelines
2. Attending the SARC or other venues within an agreed timeframe when requested by the PHL Health call centre
3. Practicing autonomously, making independent and objective clinical decisions within professional guidelines and Codes of Conduct
4. Collaborating with Crisis Workers and specially trained officers to ensure the service is tailored to each clients needs
5. Obtaining informed consent for all procedures and ensuring all actions are documented in line with local guidelines
6. Collecting forensic samples and documenting injuries in compliance with FFLM standards, maintaining the chain of evidence
7. Performing risk assessments for pregnancy, STIs, blood-borne viruses, mental health, and safeguarding
8. Managing referrals to Safeguarding and Mental Health teams and providing urgent onward referrals when necessary
9. Administering medication under PHL Health PGDs
10. Completing all necessary documentation, including FFLM Proforma and Aftercare Forms
11. Writing Police statements and attending court when requested as a professional witness
12. Participating in ongoing training and development, including quarterly peer supervision, appraisals, and reflective practice

As a Sexual OffenceExaminer (Nurse) at Partnering Health Group
(PHL) working as part ofa team, your role is so very important in providing acute forensic examinationsfor victims of rape and sexual assault in accordance with PHL, FFLM and NMCguidelines and code.
Working independentlythrough face-to-face consultations, you will be accountable for deliveringsafe, clinical decision-making and expert care to a high standard. Actingwithin your professional boundaries, your duties will include aspects of thepatient journey
You will be required towork completely independently in an autonomous role at an advanced level ofpractice.

To carry out forensicexaminations of victims of rape and sexual assault in accordance with PHLHealth, FFLM, NMC and FSR guidelines
To be available and toattend the SARC, or other venue, within an agreed timeframe when requested toby PHL Health call centre.
To practice as anautonomous practitioner exercising independent and objective clinical judgementwithin professional guidelines and code of conduct.
To treat all SARC clientswith courtesy, consideration, care and respect and give appropriate care andtreatment in accordance with best practice.
To work with and liaisewith the Crisis Worker and Specially trained officer to ensure that the clientfeels in control and the service is tailored to their needs.
To obtain fully informedconsent for all procedures from the SARC client.
To take relevant forensicsamples as per FFLM guidelines ensuring the chain of evidence and documentinjuries
To complete aftercarerisk assessments; pregnancy, STIs, blood-borne virus, mental health and safeguarding.
To liaise with colleaguesand share any safeguarding concerns in order to complete the safeguardingaction plan documentation.
To make any urgent onwardreferrals to Safeguarding and Mental Health teams
To administer anyrelevant medication under PHL Health PGDs.
To complete alldocumentation as per local guidelines including a FFLM Proforma and anAftercare Form, and store securely as per local guidelines.
To complete writtenPolice statements as per policy, when requested by PHL Health.
To attend court whenrequested to as a professional witness
To maintain their SARC Training Matrix byattending quarterly peer supervision, peer review, appraisals, undertakingquarterly reflective practice, completing mandatory training andattending relevant training, events and conferences.
To work towards acquiring the LSOM qualificationor equivalent
To adhere to policies and procedures produced byPHL Health and the SARC.
To maintain confidentiality at all times,adhering to data protection and maintaining Caldicott Guidelines at all times
Liaising with Partner agencies to ensure Clientsreceive appropriate on-going support.
Participate in multi-agency partnership working.
Participate in biannual Employee DevelopmentReview (EDR).
