Imaging Assistants - band 2 and 2/3 developmental positions available
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our existing team of Imaging Assistants in the Radiology Department (no previous experience required) - full and part time opportunities available.

In both roles you will need to be able to work effectively in a team, often under pressure whilst remaining calm and maintaining professional boundaries at all times. You will be expected to assist members of the imaging team in delivering a high standard of care. Roles will also encompass clerical, technical and caring duties as allocated under the direction and supervision of the radiologist, radiology nurse, radiographer or sonographer in charge of the area, and following Trust Policies and Procedures at all times.
Main duties of the job
Imaging Assistants - Ultrasound (Band 2)
Ultrasound Assistants help with all aspects of preparation and after care for patients undergoing ultrasound procedures to ensure appropriate care before, during and after the procedure. i.e. explanation, reassurance and undressing as appropriate to the examination to be undertaken. You will also chaperone patients and be responsible for the tidiness and cleanliness of all patient areas.
Successful candidates will need to be able to take part in a flexible shift rota that covers duties from 8 a.m. to 6 pm covering a seven day week.
Imaging Assistants - Radiology (Band 2 to 3 development role)
We also have roles for those who wish to gain skills and experience in a range of diagnostic scans and equipment (e.g. MRI and CT). You will play an important role in caring for and preparing patients during their time in the department, as well as cleanliness of the environment. This is a developmental role with the opportunity for progression, subject to achieving relevant competencies.
Successful candidates will need to be able to take part in a flexible shift pattern including a mixture of short and long days that covers duties from 8 a.m. to 11pm covering a seven day week; evenings and weekends in rota.
Job responsibilities
Both posts will include rotation between The County Hospital and the new Community Diagnostic Centre being built on Holmer Road, Hereford (opens in the summer). However, the imaging assistant ultrasound role will also include some multi-site working at our community sites in Leominster, Ross-On-Wye and Bromyard and Station Medical Centre Hereford.
The Community Diagnostic Centre will incorporate Imaging (Plain X-ray, ultrasound, CT and MRI), a range of cardiorespiratory investigations including echocardiography, ECG and rhythm monitoring, blood pressure monitoring, spirometry, FeNO, lung function tests, simple field tests, sleep investigations, oximetry, blood gas analysis and pathology services in a "one stop" location to obtain diagnostic information in cancer, cardiac, respiratory, musculo-skeletal and other conditions.
Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
* Educated to grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths
* Good Command of the English language
Skill, Knowledge & Abilities
* Appropriate level of numeracy and literacy skills (level 2/GCSE equivalent)
* Interest in radiology services
Experience
* Previous experience of care/hospital work
Personal attributes
* Clean driving licence and access to a vehicle or willingness to use public transport for multi-site working. Ability to meet the start and finish times for rota requirements
* Flexible team worker
* Good communication and social skills
