1. To educate, engage and empower churches to include people with a visual impairment in every aspect of church life.
2. To encourage churches to partner with Torch and to grow the network of churches that Torch is engaging with.
Torch is an overtly Christian organisation. This is a role with an occupational requirement of being a practising Christian, due to the importance of engaging with churches across the denominational spectrum.
* To develop and implement an annual Church Engagement Plan each year to run alongside the Torch Annual Plan.
* To carry out a review and refresh of the Sight Loss Friendly Church (SLFC) initiative and establish, implement and manage a new partnership process for churches.
* To build strategic relationships with churches across the denominational spectrum and inclusion networks.
* To grow the number of churches engaging with Torch through creative partnership.
* Explore, plan and deliver a virtual offering for churches to help educate and empower them so that they understand how they can include people with a visual impairment in every aspect of church life.
* Work closely with the Content Creator to produce and make available quality resources to support churches in the UK and internationally to become more aware of and responsive to the needs of people with a visual impairment in their communities and how they can support them to have a fulfilling church life.
* Respond to requests for support, training and meetings from churches, groups or other organisations in respect of Torch ministry.
* Work closely with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator to develop regular and ad hoc communications to the various churches, inclusion networks and people we connect with.
* Willing and able to travel to speak, deliver training, talks or lead a session at churches, conferences, exhibitions or groups, representing Torch in an engaging and inspiring way.
* Assist in promoting the work of Torch through interviews and other audio work.
* Gather feedback and impact stories to be used in our communications and on our social media platforms.
* Work closely with the Client Services and Volunteer Team Leader to recruit Torch Ambassadors to represent Torch face to face and online across the church network.
* Fully engage with the wider life of Torch Trust, contributing to prayer meetings, being involved as appropriate with other Torch services, supporting colleagues etc.
* Fully engage with Torch’s safeguarding policy and undertake the relevant training for your role.
* Undertake other duties as the Chief Executive may from time to time determine.

Role requirements
Able to fully support Torch’s values as a committed and practising Christian with an active personal relationship with God.
Willing and able to work across a broad spectrum of churches with an understanding of UK church denominations.
Available to work flexibly, including occasionally some non-standard hours.
The ability to work effectively to deadlines, meet agreed tasks and achieve demonstrable results.
You will be a team player who welcomes collaboration with their colleagues, takes on board ideas from others and can accept comments and feedback on their work.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively, demonstrating the ability to work collaboratively with a range of different stakeholders.
It will be essential that you are well organised, able to plan ahead, work independently with minimum supervision and can organise your time effectively. You will be reliable, always on time with a committed work ethic, always looking for what is the next task.
Ability to confidently deliver face to face events with others, and be able to engage with groups of people including church leadership teams. Able to deliver training, talks or lead online sessions to churches, or at conferences, exhibitions or groups, representing Torch in an engaging and inspiring way.
You will be confident in I.T. and a range of system processes, being proactive, creative, and able to use your own initiative.
Contract and Work Pattern
This is a permanent contract of 28 hours per week. The working pattern may include some evening and weekend work as needed, to meet the needs of the service and will include engaging with churches across the denominational spectrum. This role can be based at Torch House in Market Harborough or undertaken as a remote worker. In the latter case, you will also be expected to travel to Torch House in Market Harborough for staff days, which are held 4 times a year and for other meetings as needed.
