SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Bournemouth
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Bournemouth. This role is ideal for individuals who want to make a real impact on students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges, helping them develop confidence, resilience, and academic success.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing environment where students feel supported and encouraged in their learning journey.
SEMH TA Key Responsibilities
* Support students with social, emotional, and mental health needs in both one-to-one and small group settings.
* Assist teachers in delivering tailored lessons that meet individual student needs.
* Encourage positive behaviour and emotional well-being through mentoring and support.
* Build strong relationships with students, providing guidance and reassurance.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement support strategies.
* Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the appropriate staff.
* Help maintain a calm, inclusive, and structured classroom environment.
Requirements Of An SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)
* Experience working with children with SEMH needs or behavioural challenges as an SEMH Teaching Assistant is highly desirable.
* Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare are preferred but not essential.
* A degree in Psychology, Counselling, Education or similar.
* A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting students.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* The ability to build positive relationships and act as a role model for students.

* Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
