ACCOUNTING MANAGER
What You Will Do
As an experienced Accounting Manager, you will apply your experience and knowledge of UK and Irish financial accounting and tax matters to meet Amgen's internal and external compliance and reporting obligations. This role will appeal to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment within a complex, matrixed organization.
Responsibilities include:
1. Manage the monthly and quarterly financial close process, collaborating closely with the Global Accounting Hub and overseeing activities with our outsourced service provider.
2. Ensure timely and accurate preparation of all statutory reporting requirements, including the completion of audited financial statements.
3. Act as the pivotal liaison with UK and Irish audit teams, fostering strong, effective relationships.
4. Strengthen internal controls and processes through ongoing balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow forecasting, and comprehensive documentation reviews.
5. Partner with our tax advisors to manage tax provisions and filings, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
6. Oversee VAT and Intrastat reporting, maintaining full compliance with reporting obligations.
7. Provide essential support for the Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) review and take responsibility for broader tax compliance initiatives.
8. Collaborate with the Regional Tax team to prepare transfer pricing documentation and conduct profit analysis.
9. Ensure accurate and timely reporting to government bodies, maintaining compliance with reporting requirements.

You will be joining the UK/Ireland Finance team, based in the UK. This role reports in to the Accounting Lead.
In this vital role you will balance your strong stakeholder management skills with a driven, growth mindset, to deliver meaningful results within a fast-paced business. You will work collaboratively with external stakeholders, such as our external audit team and tax and technical advisors. You will also collaborate closely with the wider Finance team, having real, tangible impact on the business.
What We Expect Of You
We are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. What we seek in you as an experienced professional, are these qualifications and skills:
1. Experienced Financial Accountant within a multinational business with demonstrated success in an Accounting Manager role, ideally within the Pharmaceutical sector.
2. ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent accounting qualification.
3. Demonstrated excellence of technical knowledge of accountancy, relevant laws, local taxes, and accounting systems/processes.
4. Demonstrated capability to learn quickly within a fast-paced environment.
5. Demonstrates a high level of analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems.
6. Excellent oral as well as written English communication.
7. Excellent computer skills in the Microsoft Office environment, particularly MS Excel.
8. Experience with SAP or similar ERP Solution.
