Job Title: Legal Cashier

Position Overview
A well-established law firm in Peterborough is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Cashier to join its finance team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions in compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR), ensuring accurate record-keeping, and supporting the smooth running of the finance department.
This is a confidential role within the firm, requiring a high level of attention to detail and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Processing client and office account transactions in strict adherence to Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR)
2. Reconciling bank accounts, ledgers, and client balances
3. Accurately posting payments and receipts, ensuring all financial records are kept up to date
4. Assisting with VAT returns and managing petty cash
5. Communicating with fee earners and clients regarding financial matters
6. Supporting the preparation of management accounts and financial reports
7. Assisting with audits and ensuring adherence to internal financial controls
8. Managing the firms accounting system and client ledgers
9. Providing general cashiering support to the finance team as required
Required Skills and Experience:
1. Proven experience as a Legal Cashier or in a similar finance role within a law firm
2. Strong understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR) and legal accounting procedures
3. Proficiency in legal accounting software and Microsoft Office
4. Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills
5. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team
6. A proactive, self-motivated individual who can manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
7. AAT qualification or equivalent (desirable but not essential)
