Casual Instrument Repair Technician I Temporary assignment for approx. 6 months I £12.84 per hour (Scale D) | 22 hours per week (Monday to Friday) I County Hall, Norwich
Norfolk County Council Music Service acts as the lead organisation for Norfolk & Suffolk Music Hub: a partnership of over 100 organisations, coming together to provide the best possible music education for our children and young people. The Music Service needs to continue to facilitate high quality teaching and learning and demonstrate excellent value for money whilst improving upon the breadth of offer and forging lasting relationships with schools, partners and stakeholders.
The post of Instrument Repair Technician is integral to our strategy moving forward and plays a key role in our team supporting our continued commitment to raise the profile of both the Music Service and the Music Hub across the region.
Under the direction of the Hub Manager the main duties of the post will include:
1. Helping establish and implementing stock control systems to track a wide range of musical instruments which are loaned to schools, partner organisations, ensembles or individual pupils.
2. Organising the transportation of instruments and equipment to settings in a timely manner which includes the physical delivery and collection of instruments.
3. Monitoring the instrument stock in order to establish playability and carry out minor instrument repairs across the instrumental families as required.
4. Assisting in the transport of musical instruments and equipment for concerts and events.
5. Ensuring the safe storage of and access to all Norfolk County Council Instruments and resources as required.
To be shortlisted for interview your application will clearly evidence:
1. Experience of stock control systems.
2. Ability to carry out the physical demands involved in moving sets of instruments.
3. Knowledge of the different instrumental families (woodwind, brass, strings etc).
4. Repair expertise in at least one instrument type or the desire to undertake training.
5. Experience in a similar role within a Music Education environment.
6. An interest in Music and the Arts with a desire to integrate into and support the wider Music Hub annual schedule of events.
7. Previous experience of working in a team in order to meet the overall aims of service delivery.
