Areyou an Occupational Therapist with experience in dementia care looking for anew challenge? If so come and join our dynamic and innovative team, dedicatedto delivering high quality, evidenced based dementia assessment and postdiagnostic interventions to people presenting with early symptoms of dementia.We are continuously looking to develop and enhance the service we offer, andthis includes many opportunities to develop as individuals through both formalan informal training and supervision. Some of our previous team members havebecome Team Leaders and we have also been able to support the development of 2team members into Advanced Clinical Practitioners.
Theteams base is in Kidderminster Hospital, but we offer a county wide servicewith the flexibility of working from home or other trust bases around thecounty. Staff are aligned to geographical areas and we are advertising twoposts, one in the north and one in the south of the county (to be confirmed atinterview).

Main duties of the job
Weare looking for an Occupational Therapist with a specialist interest andexperience in dementia assessment and post diagnostic interventions. You willplay an integral role in supporting patients and their families through adementia assessment and post diagnostic support. This will include deliveringpre-diagnostic counselling, taking a detailed clinical history, undertakingcognitive testing and where appropriate formulating a diagnosis with theConsultant Psychiatrist and communicating this back to the patient. Following adiagnosis, we offer a time limited period of post diagnostic intervention whichincludes supporting with psychological adjustment, offering specialist advicein relation to the management of symptoms, liaising with other agencies social services and primary care and onward referral/ signposting.
You will work closely with Occupational Therapists,Psychologists, Psychiatrists and support workers to ensure we offer the bestcare possible.
Therewill be opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in dementia carethrough in-house and external training, supervision and coaching.
