An exciting opportunity has arisen at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston Foundation Trust for three Clinical Teaching Fellows (ST Grade) in Medical Education based in Weston General Hospital (North Somerset Academy). These are full-time, non-rotational posts available for one year commencing 6 August 2025. The posts offer the opportunity to become intensively involved in the education of medical students while maintaining clinical exposure and experience in a supportive educational environment. These posts are suitable for those who have just completed their Foundation Programme training as well as those who have undertaken ST1-2 training. You must have been in paid employment in the NHS for a minimum of 2 years.
The prime function of the post is as a teacher delivering core content and providing tutoring and pastoral support for Medical Students in years 2-5 of the Undergraduate curriculum of the University of Bristol. Clinical Teaching Fellows are expected to undertake a Medical Education Certificate course of their choosing (from an approved list) and there is also an expectation that CTFs will be involved in educational research, with a good track record of successful projects.
Nine sessions a week will be allocated to Teaching and one session is allocated for clinical work in an area of your choosing.
This post is not recognized by the Royal Colleges for General Professional Training or by the Royal College of General Practitioners for Vocational Training. The post, however, is educationally sound and well supported with ongoing appraisal. Please only apply if you have had paid employment in the NHS for a minimum of 2 years.
