Project Engineer required for a process engineering company and manufacturer of a wide range of products such as heat exchangers and pipework, primarily serving the food engineering industry, based in the Elland area.
This position is responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of assigned projects by managing all aspects of project execution. Key tasks include engaging with customers to capture requirements, supporting project teams, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Duties and responsibilities include:
1. Preparing, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring assigned technical and engineering projects.
2. Translating client needs and organizing practical terms into required timelines to be met by the team.
3. Overseeing the successful execution of all aspects of assigned project delivery, including liaising with customers, capturing customer requirements, supporting the project team, and working in partnership with colleagues to deliver on commitments.
4. Supporting technical staff and sales staff during the quotation phase with preparation of proposals (commercial and technical) and estimates, including cost and price.
5. Preparing technical specifications for third-party OEMs.
6. Tracking and monitoring progress of all allocated projects in terms of time, cost, and resource demand, including resource leveling and business forecasting.
7. Managing stakeholder relationships both internally and externally, including customers and suppliers.
8. Managing subcontractors and generating Invitations to Tender (ITT) and Requests for Quotes (RFQ) where necessary.
9. Controlling scope and contract changes with customers.
10. Reporting, raising, and escalating project issues, risks, and potential delays early and clearly.
11. Supporting the implementation of best practice project management and process improvements.
12. Maintaining knowledge of general engineering, automation solutions, project management, and customer satisfaction.
13. Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality management system requirements, adhering to company policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Strong understanding of project management principles.
* Engineering background, either through formal qualifications or extensive experience.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to establish key relationships and deliver exceptional customer service.
* Experience working within a complex, multi-disciplined environment and meeting tight deadlines.
* Ability to provide quality information within deadlines and work confidently in client-facing roles.
* Team-player with the ability to work independently.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
* Good understanding of mechanical or process engineering, with a background in food engineering.
* Minimum HNC qualification in relevant process or mechanical engineering discipline (desirable).
