Job Summary
This is a hands-on role that requires technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities
* System Administration: Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software systems, including servers, workstations, networks, and peripherals.
* Technical Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users, resolving hardware and software issues promptly and efficiently.
* User Management: Manage user accounts, permissions, and security settings in collaboration with the IT team.
* Documentation: Maintain and update system documentation, including hardware and software inventories, network diagrams, and user manuals.
* System Monitoring: Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.
* Data Protection: Implement and maintain data backup and recovery procedures to safeguard critical information.
* Security Audits: Conduct regular system and security audits, identifying vulnerabilities and implementing necessary measures to mitigate risks.
* Tech Updates: Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends, providing recommendations for improvements and enhancements to the IT infrastructure.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support and implement IT projects and initiatives.
Requirements
* Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* Professional Experience: Proven experience in IT support, system administration, or a similar role.
* Key Skills: Strong knowledge of networking principles, server administration, and operating systems (Windows, Linux). Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
* Personal Qualities: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide exceptional customer service. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
Desirable Requirements
* Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Professional) would be advantageous.
* Industry Knowledge: Understanding of UK Defence Cyber Security Domain, specifically experience with the Cyber Essentials(+) Scheme and the DCPP Cyber Security Model.
