We are looking for enthusiastic nurses to join our friendly team on Swift Ward on the St Peter's Hospital site. Swift is a 25 bed acute medical ward specialising in elderly care. You will need to be a highly motivated nurse who is committed to delivering high standards of care and can demonstrate excellent clinical and communication skills. We are looking for individuals that will work effectively and efficiently within the framework of team nursing and individualised patient care, in collaboration with the department integrated multidisciplinary team to develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care for patients. You will be supported with a full induction programme (and preceptorship if you are a new graduate or new to the NHS), continuous professional development, and the opportunity to develop your career.
The post will be fully rotational and will include both day and night duties and cover seven days a week including bank holidays. Part time would be considered.

Main duties of the job
To work effectively and efficiently within the framework of team nursing and individualised patient care. In collaboration with the department's integrated multidisciplinary team to develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care for patients.
To contribute towards developing and maintaining a suitable and stimulating learning environment, and to supervise junior registered and non-registered staff.
The role is varied, equally challenging and rewarding, where you will have the opportunity to really make a difference to the experience of our patients. Whether this is supporting patients in their rehabilitation and recovery following an operation or a period of acute illness or providing holistic and compassionate care for patients at the end of life.
Job responsibilities
1. Working as a Registered Nurse within the hospital setting.
2. Carry out assigned tasks involved with direct patient care whilst maintaining the privacy and dignity of patients.
3. Delivering high quality direct patient care.
4. Following patient admission/transfer/discharge processes.
5. Maintaining a safe environment.
6. Medication administration.
7. Care planning, implementation and evaluation.
8. Communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team, patients, families and their carers.
9. Maintain best practice, ensuring compliance with evidence-based practice and research.
10. Accountable to nurse in charge of each shift and supporting junior colleagues.
11. Maintain skills, knowledge and competencies adhering to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, and the Trust's policies and procedures.
Person Specification
Experience
* Previous NHS hospital experience.
* Experience of working within an acute environment.
Skills
* Knowledge & awareness of diversity and human rights as appropriate to the role.
* Communicate effectively to ensure high standards of care, treatment, service support as appropriate to your role.
* Nursing Assessment Skills, be able to clinically assess, plan and implement the care required for all groups of patients.
* Understand an individual's communication, physical & emotional needs; recognise their needs and preferences.
* Compassion and empathy and ability to work in a team.
Other Requirements
* Ability to be flexible to meet the needs of the patients, the team, the service and the Trust. This could include shift work during a 7-day working pattern.
* Residing in UK with a valid right to work documentation to work in UK.
Qualifications
* Must be an NMC registered nurse (RN).
* Evidence of further training.
