You’ll be responsible for preparing the appropriate DiL simulator hardware & software settings, liaising with engineering teams to define the day's plans, and preparing the setups to be tested. During sessions, you'll actively lead the test programme, working directly with the drivers and other engineers to monitor performance, the driver, and the DiL to keep the test programme on-target.
This position requires close collaboration with our Vehicle Dynamics, Race Engineering, Aerodynamics, and Performance Optimisation teams, so you’ll need exceptional communication skills and be able to effectively work alongside a diverse group of people, including drivers and race engineers who could be at the track or with you in the simulator facility.
You'll bepreparing and executing test plans covering car setup, correlation, vehicle dynamics, tyre and aerodynamic development, providingin-depth analysis, feedback, and comprehensive reports on test outcomes, and helping to develop car performance in the simulatorthrough your connection and support with the on-track team during race & test events (requiring occasional extended hours and weekend work as appropriate).
Other responsibilities will include,
* Supporting the wider Vehicle Dynamics group by implementing and testing new model developments, operational software, and DiL hardware.
* Optimising programme delivery and performance through the management of the hardware and software related to DiL operations, coordinating with internal departments and external suppliers to support maintenance, debugging, development, and general upkeep of the DiL facility.
* Contribute to the overall Vehicle Dynamics Department strategy and collaborating with the other team members to help maximise the overall effectiveness of the department.
About you:
To be successful in this position, you’ll need,
* Experience of working in motorsport, ideally F1, in a driver-in-the-loop simulator facility, or car performance or race engineering role.
* A degree in an Engineering or related discipline is desirable.
* Experience operating DiL simulators and with data analysis tools, e.g. Simulink.
* Confident and well organised with the ability to clearly prioritise tasks and make sound decisions, based on good judgment.
* A solutions-focussed approach, proactive in resolving any challenge that they are faced with, seeking input as required and delivering to agreed deadlines.
* A collaborative and innovative work style and be able to maintain clarity whilst working under pressure.
