Our client is an SME business based in Wokingham that is looking for a full time Accounts Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has a basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounting and is actively studying AAT or looking to start studying. Accounts Assistant - About The Role In this role you will be reporting into the Financial Controller, while working closely with the wider team. You will support the finance team and be responsible for the day-to-day routines in the finance department. Key responsibilities: Post purchase ledger invoices daily Raise sales invoices Chase up missing PO’s and delivery notes with relevant departments Ensure all PO’s and invoices are coded correctly and in full, checking with purchasing teams and appropriate managers Reconcile supplier statements to purchase ledger, chasing missing invoices and ensuring payments are correctly allocated Review aged creditors and provide commentary for incorrect balances Calculate, review and submit monthly VAT returns and ensure payment is made on time Prepare prepayment and accruals schedules Post month end journals Provide general support to the month end process Balance sheet reconciliations The successful Accounts Assistant will have/be: Part qualified AAT or looking to start AAT studies A basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles Previous experience in purchase ledger would be advantageous Capacity to learn new systems quickly A solid proficiency in using Excel Analytically minded with a good attention to detail Problem solving skills and the ability to prioritise tasks Strong communication skills and the ability to form good working relationships Howett Thorpe are acting as a recruitment agency in relation to this role and comply with all relevant UK legislation and do not discriminate on any protected characteristics.
