Our client has a new STAFF opportunity for a Metallurgy/Ops Technician.

Principal Purpose:
To provide technician support to all laboratory, site and project related requirements in relation to Asset Metallurgy Group activities.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications
HNC/HND in a discipline appropriate to the business.
Preferred Qualifications
BSc(Hons)/BEng(Hons) in a discipline appropriate to the business.
Experience
Experience as a Laboratory Technician (3+ years).
KEY COMPETENCIES

4. Effective optimisation of quality Vs time Vs cost.

6. Effective identification, evaluation and mitigation of risk.
KEY DUTIES
1. Provision of support for lab and site-based projects.
2. Preparation of laboratory tests/procedures and assessment of results.
3. Preparation of test certificates and technical documents.
4. Control and ordering of minor equipment and consumables.
5. Provision of technical advice.
6. Maintenance and calibration of equipment/tools in support of Group activities.
7. Effective application of HS&E requirements to products and services.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. To provide technician support for all Asset Metallurgy related projects and assist in ensuring that timescales and budgets are met to fulfil client requirements.
2. To maintain efficient stock control, ordering and maintenance systems to support all aspects of Asset Metallurgy Group activities.
3. To effectively prepare and apply risk assessments, COSHH assessments and method statements where required.
4. To be responsible for facilities and equipment, as specified by the Asset Metallurgy Group Leader, ensuring that these are always fit for purpose and suitable for client/visitor presentation purposes.
5. To maintain full training of UKAS accredited tests and be aware of the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 practices and procedures.
6. To adhere to company procedures and systems and to contribute to their improvement where performance can be enhanced.
7. To provide general technical advice and ensure that all support requests are associated with a valid project number.
