Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant
Status and FTE: Permanent Full Time
Location: New Glasgow, NS
Department: Quality & Program Support
Hours of Work: 80 Hours/Pay Period
Employment Agreement: CUPE Union position
Compensation: As per CUPE Contract

Responsibilities:
* Implement individual treatment plans, designed by the Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist.
* Help residents correctly position themselves by performing appropriate moves and transfers.
* Assist residents with activities such as stretching, individual exercises, posture re-education, and gait re-education.
* Distribute relevant materials or supplies to residents.
* Assist residents in the use of equipment, material, or supplies.
* Monitor residents during treatments, individual activities, and exercise classes, and report resident performance as required.
* Adjust and monitor the safe operation of equipment.
* Prepare treatment areas and electrotherapy equipment for use by Physiotherapist.
* Check and store equipment.
* Assist in receiving and cataloguing inventory/equipment.
* Clean physical therapy equipment.
Qualifications:
* Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy Assistant Certificate
* Demonstrated competence in electronic communication and Microsoft Office
* Continuing Care Assistant Certificate (preferred)
* Experience with Responsive Behaviors (preferred)
* Experience working in a health care or long-term care setting (preferred)
* Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (preferred)
* Knowledge and Experience with Momentum (asset)
