Reporting to the Service Superintendent, this position is responsible for process sampling and testing for calibration of control instrumentation, and special process studies, and reporting the results of the work.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform testing on wastewater treatment as needed for routine checks and special studies.
2. Evaluate test data for accuracy.
3. Prepare reports on special studies as required.
4. Identify/report the need for calibration adjustments to process instrumentation.
5. Keep records of test results.
6. Develop an understanding of process configuration and relate test results to expected process outcomes. Identify and report process excursions to operating management.
7. Work safely, reporting hazards and unsafe conditions, and taking all reasonable measures to protect themselves and their co-workers.
8. Use and/or wear personal protective equipment that the company requires to be used or worn.
9. Work in compliance with the responsibilities as outlined in the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Industrial Regulations and with the Company’s safe practices and procedures.
10. Off-Site Odour check twice a day to comply with the Ministry of Environment requirement. Road map for the driving route will be provided.
Qualifications:
1. Chemical technologist or technology diploma.
2. At least 3-5 years experience.
3. Must have a valid driving license.
4. Good knowledge of laboratory protocols.
5. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Acrobat.
6. Strong/effective communication skills and works well within a team.
7. Exhibit a sense of urgency and demonstrates the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
8. Ability to present themselves in a professional manner.
