Position: Registered Manager – Children's Residential Service Location: Coventry, West Midlands Employment Type: Full-time | Permanent Salary: Competitive – Based on Experience We are seeking a forward-thinking Registered Manager to lead a highly specialised residential service dedicated to supporting a small number of children with learning disabilities and other complex needs. Are you a committed and compassionate leader with a strong background in children’s residential care? Do you have a genuine passion for supporting children with learning disabilities (LD) and complex health needs to thrive in a nurturing and inclusive environment? This home was established out of a deep commitment to supporting children with learning disabilities who are most in need of stable, compassionate care. Currently, the home supports two children out of a maximum capacity of four, with no pressure or urgency to fill all placements. The priority is ensuring that any new child joining the home is the right fit—both for their own wellbeing and the existing dynamics of the environment. The service is proudly built around consistent 1:1 care, and there are no plans to move toward 2:1 staffing or high-intensity, intervention-based models. The focus remains firmly on creating a calm, nurturing space where each child can thrive at their own pace. About the Service This privately operated residential home provides tailored care and developmental support to up to four children. The home has consistently demonstrated strong performance and has been rated “Good” in Ofsted inspections over multiple years and on track to achieve it again. Recent feedback praised the warmth of the staff, the individualized care strategies, and the meaningful progress children have made, particularly in areas such as education engagement, communication, and independence development. You will be joining a team that values a homely environment, individualised care plans, and creative engagement — from helping children explore their love of sea creatures at local aquariums to supporting independence through driving lessons and transitional life skills. The Opportunity We are looking to appoint a Registered Manager who will play a vital role in: Overseeing the delivery of high-quality care and support tailored to each child's unique needs Leading and mentoring a well-established and passionate staff team, including an experienced deputy Maintaining and building upon our strong culture of safeguarding, participation, and child-centred practice Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and actively preparing for inspections and audits The successful candidate will be joining a service where leadership is committed to continuous improvement. While recent inspections found strong outcomes for children, opportunities remain in developing internal systems such as medication protocols, supervision records, and quality assurance frameworks — areas you will help shape and enhance. Candidate Profile We are looking for an individual who meets some of the following: A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a children’s residential care setting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management capacity Holds a Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce (or equivalent) Has completed or is actively working towards the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) – support can be provided to complete this Experience of working within services that have achieved “Good” or “Outstanding” Ofsted ratings Demonstrates excellent leadership, safeguarding awareness, and a proactive approach to partnership working with professionals Strong administrative and organizational skills with the ability to maintain and develop systems that promote quality and safety We are also open to hearing from experienced Deputy Managers ready to take the next step in their leadership journey.
