Are you able to support vulnerable young people in the Barry area, who have housing related support needs, including those who require support to establish and maintain a tenancy and those who are homeless?
We are searching for a Youth Support Worker - for a permanent contract.
What will you do?
* Support people aged 16 - 25 across Barry who are affected by homelessness and struggling to find, secure or maintain appropriate accommodation
* Undertake assessments of need in accordance with the support assessment procedure and as directed by the Projects Manager.
* Undertake risk assessments and risk management plans, including safety planning in accordance with policies and procedures.
* Work within a multi-agency settings where possible (mainly internal projects), with travel across the Vale of Glamorgan.
* Liaise with colleagues to provide timely, appropriate support.
* Work within the Supporting People Gateway framework, liaising with staff as required for case management and allocation.
* Deliver support and assistance to each person in accordance with the ethos, values and policies of the charity.

What do we need?
* Someone with experience in supporting people facing housing and homelessness issues.
* A driver who can get around the area.
* A DBS on the update service will be a distinct advantage.
* A good understanding of the causes and effects of homelessness.
* Able to stay calm in a crisis.
* Good knowledge of the housing sector.
* Someone who can speak out for others and act as an advocate.
