About the role As an Associate DNS Engineer you will work at the core of the Internet, managing Nominet DNS services and being involved in the operation of critical national infrastructure and government secure services. The role involves an element of out of hours on-call operational support as a point of escalation. It will be expected that you develop skills in DNS/DNSSEC through support work and interacting with colleagues in the DNS team and wider Nominet organisation. Working with stakeholders at all levels of the Nominet organisation, communicating positively and transparently. Professionally manage customer communications and Industry engagement. Work constructively and effectively with third parties to build and leverage the relationship. You will plan and implement changes using robust and tested methodologies, with the least risk of impacting DNS services. Maintaining service levels of Nominet’s DNS Services, while improving automation, monitoring and measurement. React to and promptly resolve DNS Service incidents. Responsibilities: Support and operation of Nominet’s DNS services. Ensure that the DNS services are secure, stable and maintained to maximise uptime for external and internal DNS systems. Develop subject matter expertise in DNS/DNSSEC related technologies. Work as part of a team on DNS service improvement and development. Profile description: About you and your experience Some basic understanding of the DNS protocol. Linux administration at an intermediate level. Analysis and resolution of service problems and customer requests. Excellent communication skills, being able to tailor content and style to the audience at hand. Experience of automation/configuration management tools (ansible preferred). Experience of Linux package management. Knowledge of Internet networking protocols.
