We are looking for an IT Manager to join our team in Sheffield. In this role, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the IT team and the implementation of strategic plans relating to IT infrastructure and support across the organisation. Reporting to the Head of Legal and IT, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation and continuous improvement of the organisation’s IT systems and infrastructure. This position involves overseeing the day-to-day management of IT operations, implementing technology solutions, and ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of the organisation's digital environment. Salary: Up to £45,000, depending upon skills and experience. You will: Be responsible for the overall delivery of IT support to colleagues Be responsible for the uptime / availability of the IT infrastructure necessary to support the business Be responsible for the implementation of tactical plans to support the delivery of strategic IT objectives Be responsible for the performance of the IT function within the annual budget constraints Be responsible for the delivery of information security actions in the IT function Be responsible for the creation and updating of procedures and work orders in the IT function Be responsible for providing IT input into audits (Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO27001, customer audits Devise tactical plans to support the delivery of strategic IT objectives Input into IT budget development Develop and improve the performance of the IT function, making it more efficient Develop and update IT policies Develop and update information security policies Line management responsibility for assigned team, including: Team Leadership and People Management: Provide direction, support, and mentorship to team members, helping them set and achieve their individual and collective goals. Conduct regular performance reviews (at least twice a year), provide feedback, and support the team in setting clear development goals. Resolve conflicts and handle colleague issues in a fair and timely manner. Performance Management: Set and communicate performance expectations and goals aligned with organisational goals and strategy. Track, analyse, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and team performance metrics, participating in group wide Annual talent and performance activities such as calibration. Address and manage ER (absence, conduct etc.) and performance issues promptly and provide support for improvement. Assess, manage and develop the talent and performance of the team. Communication and Coordination: Facilitate regular team meetings to discuss goals, performance, updates, and feedback. Serve as the main point of contact between the team and senior management, ensuring clear communication of company objectives, updates, and feedback. Collaborate with other locations, hubs and functions to ensure cohesive operations and the achievement of cross-functional goals. Training and Development: Identify and manage any role specific training required during the induction period for new colleagues. Identify training, knowledge, skills, experience and opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and advance their careers. Support continuous learning and professional development within the team. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure team compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards. Look after team’s health, safety and wellbeing, spotting risks so they don’t become an issue, escalating when appropriate. Change Management: Lead the team through changes in processes, systems, or organisational structure, ensuring a smooth transition. Communicate changes effectively and support the team in adapting to new ways of working. Budget and Resource Management: Manage the project budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial constraints. Manage vacancies within the team, leading recruitment. Successfully identify and complete all relevant training both in-house and external, as required. Assist with any other duties reasonably requested and in line with the requirements of the post. We are looking for: Experience and Knowledge A minimum of 5–8 years of experience in IT roles, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity. Understanding of IT service delivery frameworks such as ITIL. Technical expertise in IT infrastructure (including networking across multiple geographically separate site), Windows Server deployment and management, cloud solutions (Azure), and enterprise systems (including Microsoft 365 suite). Good knowledge of cybersecurity principles, regulatory and compliance standards(e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001, SOC 2) including cybersecurity best practices, frameworks, and threat management. Excellent project management skills, with experience leading cross-functional initiatives and deployment of large-scale IT systems and / or digital transformation initiatives. Proven track record of managing IT teams, operations (including service desks), and budgets effectively. Skills and Abilities Ability to analyse complex problems, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to resolve complex IT issues. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders including the ability to present technical concepts and solutions in a clear and concise manner. Strong decision-making skills with a focus on both short-term and long-term impacts.
