We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Senior Manager - Component & Plant Structural Analysis to be involved in a game changing role as we strive to make the nuclear industry more diverse. Job Purpose: Reporting to the Chief Design Engineer for Components and Mechanical Equipment, the Senior Manager – Component and Plant Structural Analysis is accountable for providing senior leadership to all aspects of structural analysis supporting the component development and wider plant. This is a senior leadership role within the business, in the newly formed Components and Mechanical Equipment team which covers all hardware throughout the SMR power station solution and provides structural analysis SQEP into the whole business.It is essential that the leader can build the capability within the team for this level of scope and deliver against tough demands from across the business, whilst maintaining strong leadership behaviours and building strong relationships throughout the business. The candidate shall lead the structural analysis capability in the organisation and ensure it meets all demands throughout the product lifecycle. This is an evolving picture, and it is vital that the candidate can be the flexibility and agile leader to deal with this change. It will be the responsibility of this candidate to lead, manage and develop the team to deliver the suite of structural analysis methods, processes, and tools to effectively and efficiently deliver analyses to support the programme and to enable the team to become the design authority for area of responsibility. There is an expectation that the candidate can flex and evolve with the business and the team as it develops and grows and help to lead the business into the future. Key Results & What Can Be Achieved in The Role: This senior leadership role will develop as the business grows, including the size of team, scope and the budget allocated, and the individual will be expected to grow in role as part of their personal development. The team have a well-established foundation that can be built and moulded in the vision of the candidate, the candidate should be excited about the prospect of this role, which can be shaped in the vision of the successful individual. This role will demand leadership of people across multiple locations and will demand work with suppliers nationally and internationally which will require reasonable travel from time to time. The Key Selection Criteria: Demonstrable experience of applied structural analysis within nuclear component and plant development. This role will lead the structural analysis capability within the SMR business. It is key that the individual has experience with applied structural analysis in a large and complex project throughout the product lifecycle to build and lead the team and to ensure technical governance is robust and appropriate for the stage of the project. Experience of leading within large complex projects and engineering teams. The role will lead a large team, subject to potential reorganisation, and large budget, both of which will grow significantly in later phases of the programme. This will require leadership of a capable team of engineers at various stages in their career and require building, maintaining, and sustaining a SQEP resource pool to lead the project from concept to operation of the first SMRs and beyond. Experience of structural analysis methods and application including the integration with a component and/or plant safety case within the Nuclear Industry. This is very much a leadership role for the structural analysis required across the power station. However, experience of applied structural analysis and leading structural analysis packages is essential to ensure the candidate can develop and lead the capability development of the area and to ensure strategic objectives for the team are defined and delivered. Ability to build relationships at all levels of the business. The ability to work with people, build teams, create a supporting working environment, and communicate up and down the business hierarchy is a key competence that the candidate should be able to demonstrate. Demonstrate self-drive and motivation, and seeking to motivate others, to deliver maturity in the product development aligned to the demands of the programme. An exceptional team player that is prepared to support any aspect of the business when required. Display an appropriate questioning attitude and excel in periods of uncertainty within a learning culture. Is willing to work in an ever changing and ambiguous environment and flex and bend to the evolving needs of the business, sustaining exceptional leadership behaviours. Qualifications & Training: Experience as a senior leader in structural analysis with a strong proven track record of delivery of complex integrated programmes and with a high level of aptitude for people leadership. A strategic thinker who is extremely comfortable leading within a developing business and circumnavigating the challenges A track record of leadership and delivery of large complex nuclear product development and delivery programmes. Chartered Engineer, or equivalent. Technical degree level qualification, or equivalent. Pay and Benefits We anticipate paying a salary of between £68,000 to £89,000 (DOE) plus:- Bonus - Performance related bonus of up to 17% Benefits Allowance – £5500, enabling you to create a bespoke package Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
