An exciting opportunity has arisen for Healthcare Support Workers to become part of our evolving Older Adult Community Mental Health Team in Central Fife. The post holders would be based at Whytemans Brae Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
Applications for these posts are invited from experienced HCSWs, who are able to demonstrate knowledge and skills gained from experience working with older adults in the Mental Health Service, or have transferrable skills and experience. We are seeking confident Support Workers with a positive, pro-active approach who can collaboratively work within the wider team. You will be resilient, enthusiastic and committed to working with older adults to provide person centred care.
You will be self motivated with a desire to be part of a progressive, innovative Older Adult CMHT and be able to cover a large geographical area, often carrying medical equipment.
You will receive a comprehensive induction, managerial/caseload supervision and supportive educational/personal development, which includes protected learning time. These posts will also provide opportunities to contribute and shape the development of the role within the evolving CMHT.
If successful in your application, you will be offered the opportunity to undertake an SVQ2 or SVQ3 (dependent on band) in Health and Social Care, approximately 9 months after taking up post. It is expected that you complete this qualification, which will be fully funded by NHS Fife. Your Line Manager will provide you with more information once you are in post.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. Your offer/contract of employment will therefore reflect the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
