Return to Practice Nurse
Initial Band 3 - £26,869 to £28,998 per annum
on completion of return to practice course
Band 5 £31,892 to £39,735 per annum
Plus £1,349 Distant Islands Allowance
37 Hours per Week Permanent
This programme is an exciting collaboration with NHS Western Isles and Glasgow Caledonian University, delivering an employer-led model for Return to Practice, enabling previously registered adult and mental health nurses to return to the NMC register.
You will have access to online learning and teaching and undertake a practice learning experience within NHS Western Isles to refresh your knowledge and skills to enable you to return to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register.
You will be recruited to the programme jointly by NHS Western Isles and Glasgow Caledonian University. Your programme fees will be paid in full and you will be employed by NHS Western Isles throughout the return to practice programme and paid at Agenda for Change band 3.
You will complete a total of 300 or 450 hours of practice which will be dependent on the length and circumstances for the lapse of your registration. Applications are invited from adult nurses with a lapse of registration for the Return to Practice programme commencing February 10th 2025.
Entry requirements:
* Evidence of current NMC Statement of entry
* Declaration of any NMC Order (if relevant)
* Following successful interview, undertake and complete all required pre-employment checks
* Commitment to fulfil the programme requirements and remain within employment for a minimum of one year within NHS Western Isles.
* Undertake the academic and practice elements of the programme without interruption

* Your programme fees will be paid in full
* NHS Western Isles will support you financially, meaning you will be paid as a band 3 for the duration of the programme
* On successful completion of the programme you will be offered employment as a registered practitioner in a substantive post in NHS Western Isles
* You will receive academic and practice learning support for the duration of your programme to facilitate your return to the NMC register
Applications are now invited from interested individuals who are seeking to re-join the NMC register.
Applications will be subject to a stringent short-listing process with Glasgow Caledonian University and those shortlisted will be subject to a joint values-based interview with NHS Western Isles and Glasgow Caledonian University. Interviews are expected to be held in November 2024. Successful candidates will be required to commence the return to practice programme in February 2025.
