Your role and responsibilities Reporting to the Infrastructure Maintenance and Commissioning Manager you will be the lead for developing the forward programme of works for the carriageway, footway and street furniture assets in line with the corporate objectives of the council and in conjunction with the latest developments in technology and asset management principles. You will assist the Infrastructure Maintenance and Commissioning Manager to help develop Suffolk Highways so that it is recognised regionally and nationally as a leading exponent in the delivery of all aspects of local highway infrastructure maintenance and improvement. In addition to this you will assist in providing a responsive service for public enquiries relating to these activities and to ensure that, through Infrastructure Operations (including its supply chain partners), Suffolk County Council is complying with its statutory duty to maintain a safe and serviceable highway network. You will need degree in a relevant discipline (preferably engineering) or equivalent demonstrable experience related to elements of highway infrastructure asset management preferably a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with a relevant professional institute or institution or working towards that status diploma in Management Studies, an equivalent management qualification or demonstrable management experience proven experience of successfully managing a range of complex projects in highways engineering, finance or change management with strong technical judgement and the ability to solve complex and challenging problems experience of management, resource and budget management, monitoring and control of the performance of human, financial and physical resources in a political and/or similar organisation, with the ability to anticipate the need to supplement or diminish resource experience of working effectively and persuasively in a political environment, particularly with Councillors demonstrable experience and in-depth working knowledge of Construction Design management (CDM) Regulations, safety, health, environmental and traffic management.
